A tiny forest needs a patch of open ground, and a site that can stay put while it takes hold.
Schools
A schoolyard corner becomes a place lessons happen in, not just a place to look at. At Temple Shalom the wood went in around an outdoor classroom, planted by the children who would go on to use it, and it has been part of the curriculum ever since.
Companies
A campus edge, a parking lot margin, the strip nobody has ever had a use for. Those are the pieces of ground a city writes off, and they are exactly the ones that hold a forest. Your people plant it in a morning, and then they walk past it every day after.
Neighborhoods
A vacant lot, a wide median, the ground behind the community center. A block that plants one together tends to keep an eye on it together, and three years on it is the shadiest, coolest corner on the street.
Landowners
Any piece of open ground you can keep protected while it takes hold. Two or three years of watering, and after that it asks nothing of you again: no irrigation, no mowing, no upkeep. Just a wood standing where the grass was.
